Exekia (originally known as "the shadlowlands") is a region in the northern hemisphere. It is bordered to the south by Apicarta. Considered inhospitably cold to humans, it is the current "official" homeland of the Exekians, who are better equipped to tolerate the extreme temperatures.
In the years following the First Exekian War and the collapse of the Exekian Empire, the Exekian survivors of the conflict fled into the hostile northern wastes across the Kuhlimani Mountains and the Antrea River in order to escape the genocide of their people. Two centuries later, the land is divided between two rival factions, the New Exekian Empire and the Clan.
The area is characterized by its extremely low temperatures and frozen tundra. Dubbed the shadowlands for the endless night which lasts all winter, Exekia generally has only five to six hours of daylight even in midsummer. The sudden sharp drop in temperature come nightfall and the high-speed winds which ravage the region have made it largely inhospitable to most forms of life.
Since the First Exekian War, the shadowlands have become a safe haven for Exekians fleeing human aggression. Numerous feudal kingdoms and tribes formed, which experienced infighting amongst themselves within the last two hundred years. Currently, there are only two major factions, the New Exekian Empire to the west, and the Clan to the east.
